About APAC CBO

Affirmative Personality Attitude Change also referred to as APAC is a community Based Organization duly registered (KSM/WST/CBO/046/014) by the Kisumu West sub-county under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development, Kenya. The CBO comprises of 15 members (10 women and 5 men) and 8 youth. Our offices are located at Otonglo Market, 5 kilometers West of Kisumu International Airport, along Kisumu-Busia Road.

To provide psychosocial support to the vulnerable in the community
To promote alternative income generating activities
To strengthen Public Private Partnerships(PPPs)

Our programs

Psychosocial support

Advocacy and awareness creation on human rights, drug and substance abuse and disease prevalence.
Counseling – Mental health, Domestic violence, Youth and adolescent abuse, HIV/ AIDS.
Mediation – Land, marriage and family, employment and labor disputes.
Education – Local sponsorship, Orphans and Vulnerable (OVCs) support.
Referrals – Seeking higher level authorities and institutions.


Economic empowerment

Vocational Trainings – Enterprise selection and management, community resource mobilization, leadership, life skills.
Capacity development - Business startup, employability skills.
Business mentorship – on job trainings and placements

Mental health suppression

CHV/W psychosocial first aid, conducting systematic continuous surveys on mental health in the community

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS and success


Life skills training: 
Trained 84 youth (52 girls and 32 boys) Constituency Development Fund (CDF) sponsored in 2018 and 2019.

Entrepreneurship and business management skills: 
 Trained 1,600 youth (982 girls and 618) of the 'Nitambue ni Faulu' Project sponsored by Investing in Children and their Societies Training (ICST) with funds from United States International Development Agency (USAID).

Local fund raising: 
3 CBO members attended(2 women and 1 man) training by Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) through the Change the Game Academy

Group small-scale mini-loaning:
Starting capital was KES 40,000 and build KES 300,000 from 2015 to 2020.

School fees bursary: 
Paid school fees for 10 vulnerable girls and 2 boys
Psychosocial support Offered group counseling therapy to 200 male in-mates at Kodiaga maximum Prisons, Kenya in 2020.

Meditation matters:
Successfully completed and others on-going mediation matters in collaboration with Kisumu Mediation Centre (KMC).

Vocational training: 
Trained 24 (14 female and 4 male) on tailoring, dressmaking and computer skills though Kenya Youth Empowerment Opportunity Programme (KYEOP), a World Bank funded project from 2015 to 2021. Six of the students initiated own businesses and 8 got employed as skilled staff.
